| "Lysistrata 1-4"
"These paintings are based on a comedy "Lysistrata"
by Aristophanes, written in the 5th cent. BC in Athens. The plot involves
a conspiracy among the women of various warring Greek city-states to force
a halt to the war by refusing to have sex with the men until they declare
a peace.
I did this work early this year, and I am amazed at how
little it speaks to 9/11. That highlights the differences of this war
compared to anything we've faced before. |
